Profile

Dr Wang Yu Tien is a gastroenterologist at Nobel Gastroenterology Centre (Gleneagles). He graduated from The University of Sydney in 2001, and completed his post- graduate training in internal medicine and advanced training in gastroenterology and hepatology in Singapore General Hospital (SGH) in 2010. To further his interest in digestive function disorders, he completed a one-year fellowship at the Centre for Digestive Diseases at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, UK.

Dr Wang received the Singapore Medical Journal Best Research Paper Award 2015 and was awarded research grants in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and Helicobacter pylori with quantum in excess of 1 million dollars

Dr Wang is specialised in managing a wide range of gastrointestinal, digestive conditions such as heartburn, GERD, Helicobacter pylori  and IBS, as well as  liver conditions like cirrhosis, Hepatitis A, B, and C, and fatty liver disease. He has special interest in gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and he performs specialised tests including acid reflux monitoring, esophageal manometry, hydrogen breath tests and intestinal transit studies. Dr Wang is also experienced in performing advanced endoscopies such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy and polypectomy.

Dr Wang was previously senior consultant at the gastroenterology and hepatology department in SGH where he establish the “IBS clinic”, a multidisciplinary service to manage digestive function disorders which integrates medical, dietary and psychological therapy.  He was also the director of the gastrointestinal function laboratory in SGH and co-chairperson of the SingHealth gastroenterology training programme. He has served as the gastroenterology editor for Singapore Medical Journal and He has conducted research in the field of gastroesophageal reflux disease, irritable bowel syndromes, clinical nutrition and digestive function. disorders which has been recognised by the New England Journal of Medicine Journal Watch.
