Lianhe Zaobao: Breaking the “Quarantine 15” curse – Dr Teo Cheng Rong

Dr Teo Cheng Rong (Family Physician, Healthway Medical Group) talks about the recent “Quarantine 15” phenomenon and how we can lose weight in a sustainable and healthy manner.

Dr Teo explained that diet, exercise, sleep and mental health are all important considerations in one’s weight loss plan. He also stressed that maintaining a healthy diet is a long-term goal that involves eating healthily, and weight loss should be carried out gradually. He also recommended maintaining 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise every week.

Dr Teo cautioned those with heart disease, high blood pressure, or mental illnesses against taking weight-loss supplements and medication to avoid aggravating their existing health conditions. Before starting a weight loss plan, readers were advised to consult a doctor or nutritionist first.
