Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine

Healthway Medical (Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital) and The Clinic @ One George Street (a member of Healthway Medical) have been approved by the Ministry of Health Singapore to provide Moderna COVID-19 vaccinations to travellers entering Singapore.

(Updated on 4 April 2022) According to Singapore’s travel advisory, Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is one of the accepted vaccinations for entry into Singapore, with a minimum requirement of 2 doses taken at least 24 days apart*.

*As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, please stay updated with the entry requirements for Singapore.

From 17 October 2022 onwards, according to MOH’s directive, Moderna COVID-19 vaccine will be switched to Bivalent Moderna/Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine. This updated vaccine contains the spike protein from both the original and Omicron variants of the virus, and is expected to result in high protection against severe disease across variants and may confer better protection against future variants than the original vaccine.

Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has authorised the Bivalent Moderna/Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine for use in persons aged 18 years and above.

How does Moderna COVID-19 vaccine work?

Moderna COVID-19 vaccine has received the World Health Organization (WHO) validation for its safety, efficacy and quality. Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are mRNA vaccines, which use mRNA created in a laboratory to teach our cells how to make a protein—or even just a piece of a protein—that triggers an immune response inside our bodies. That immune response, which produces antibodies, is what protects us from getting infected if the real virus enters our bodies. (source: CDC)
